Wings For Life
Wings for Life’s mission is to raise money to fund research into finding a cure for spinal cord injury paralysis. Our four main areas of activity are: cutting-edge international research, clinical trials, scientific communication and prevention. To date the charity has funded 55 projects around the world. Wings for Life’s overheads are paid by Red Bull Company Ltd which ensures that 100% of funds raised go directly to the research to cure spinal paralysis. The charity has a number of high-profile supporters including David Coulthard and the Formula 1-pilots Mark Webber & Sebastian Vettel. Nearly 3 million people around the world live with a spinal cord injury, and the number is growing by approximately 130,000 each year. The main causes include traffic accidents and falls at home or work and the average patient age is only 33 years old. The good news is that leading scientists agree: Injured neurons are able to regenerate - paraplegia will be curable one day.
