Quality Policy
1. MacKinnon Construction Ltd has a quality policy which is one of total commitment to getting it right first time every time. In keeping with the fundamental philosophy of quality management that quality cannot be inspected in but must be built in, the emphasis of construction control is on achieving specified requirements by effective planning, preparation and supervision.
2. The control documents and methods used to plan and control construction activities are principally:-
• Construction Phase of the Project Quality Plan, identifying the management structure and quality procedures applicable to each project.
• Overall works programme schedules, representing the timing and sequencing of the works elements. Regular monitoring of the progress achieved against planned by controlled scheduled audits.
• Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), which identify the key activities, samples, documentation and approvals necessary prior to commencing a particular construction activity.
• Method Statements used to translate project requirement into planned systems of work instruction to project staff and operatives.
3. The project shall implement a system of self-certification by means of inspection; testing and monitoring controlled by the Engineering Staff with verification by the Client where necessary. All material and work shall be subject to interim and final inspection or test to check conformity to specification prior to final acceptance in accordance with the relevant MacKinnon Procedure(s). The records created shall demonstrate the self-certification process.
4. The managing director has overall responsibility for implementing this policy. MacKinnon Construction Ltd has appointed a director to be responsible for quality. It is the responsibility of all employees to implement this policy together with their collective and individual responsibilities. 'Individuals' responsibilities under this policy are set out in the Quality plans.
Environment Policy
1. MacKinnon Construction Ltd. considers effective environmental management to be of prime importance to its business and is committed to continuous improvement in performance in all these areas.
2. MacKinnon Construction Ltd. (MCL)
• Comply with all legislative and client requirements and MCL policy pertaining to the environment as its minimum standard.
• Pursue high standards of environmental management as an integral part of efficient management of the business ensuring that all business decisions take proper account of environmental implications.
• Develop, implement and maintain a environmental management system consistent with the MCL framework.
• Develop procedures that, in particular, provide for:
• Plant and systems of work that minimize risks to the environment
• Suitable arrangements for the selection, use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances
• Adequate information, instruction, training and supervision to enable work to be carried out without risk to the environment by persons with the necessary competence
• Designs which recognize, include and apply which consider lifecycle environmental impact including decommissioning and disposal
• Leadership and support to suppliers to enable them to contribute to improvements in our overall environmental performance
• Prevention of polluting emissions to air, land or water
• Efficient use of natural resources
• Control of noise, dust, odour, vibration, traffic movement or other nuisance or environmental effects which may cause offence to the local community or environment - Waste minimization
• Management of waste disposal including recycling where appropriate
• Consultation with environmental advisory facilities as required
• Develop and review clear environmental performance indicators including:
• Accident and incident performance rates
• Attainment of annual environmental objectives
• Training achievement
• Results of environmental audits
• Review and, if necessary, revise this policy on an annual basis.

a) Comply with all legislative and client requirements and MCL policy pertaining to safety and health as its minimum standard.
b) Pursue high standards of safety and health management as an integral part of efficient management of the business ensuring that all business decisions take proper account of safety and health implications.
c) Develop, implement and maintain a safety and health management system consistent with the MCL framework.
d) Develop procedures that, in particular, provide for:
• Plant and systems of work that minimize risks to safety and health
• Suitable arrangements for the selection, use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances
• Adequate information, instruction, training and supervision to enable work to be carried out safely by persons with the necessary competence
• Safe premises and work places, including access to and egress from them
• Safe and healthy working environments with adequate welfare facilities
• Designs which recognize, include and apply safe practice during preparation, construction and subsequent operational use and maintenance.
• Leadership and support to suppliers to enable them to contribute to improvements in our overall safety and health performance
• Consultation, occupational health and advisory facilities as required
e) Develop and review clear safety and health performance indicators including:

• Training achievement
• Results of safety and health audits
